The Yearly Exam
When you bring in your pet for its yearly vaccinations, the most important aspect of the visit is the annual physical examination. Your pet doesn't let you know about a problem until it becomes severe - and then it is often more difficult and costly to treat.
A proper yearly examination consists of:
- Evaluation of general appearance, including body condition and weight, and the condition of the coat and skin
- Check for external parasites
- Palpatation of the superficial lymph nodes
- Palpatation of the joints
- Examination of the oral cavity, including teeth, gums, and oral mucosa
- Auscultation of the lungs and heart
- Body Temperature
- Examination of the stool for parasites
- Examination of the eyes and ears
- Checking the blood for heartworms
Surgery and Anesthesia
We offer a full range of surgical and dental treatments, including abdominal and intrathoracic surgery, restorative dentistry and orthodontics, periodontal and endodontic treatments, opthalmic procedures, including eyelid deformity repair, orthopedic fracture repair and stabilization of joints and ligaments.
To ensure the safest anesthesia for your pet, we utilize a combination of pre-surgical blood screening, circulatory support, state-of-the-art controlled ventilation and gas delivery system. For extensive procedures, the patient's blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation are continually monitored.
Senior Care Wellness Program
As pets age, certain changes occur. Some of these changes are normal, while other may be early signs of health problems. We have developed a health monitoring program for aging and geriatric patients that may detect early stages of disease.
The following program is recommended for patients (dogs and cats) who are 7 years of age or older:
- Thorough Consultation and Physical Exam of your Pet
- Review of your Pet's History and Current Exam Findings
- Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Chemistry Profile
- Urinalysis and Thyroid Health-Sceen
- Opthalmic Exam
